You think Americans are geographically illiterate? Not if Lily has anything to say about it. Not too bad considering she’s a little less than 2 yrs old. I especially like how she corrects her parents pronunciation of “Mexico”.
I’ve been going to the TED conference for a number of years – its a remarkable gathering of people with a broad range of incredible speakers. This talk by Sherwin Nuland was one of the best I’ve ever seen there. His talk has all the qualities of a superb presentation – he tells a story. Dr. Nuland’s story is honest, amazing, thought-provoking and human. Well worth the 20 minutes:

“Into the Wild” – a great movie with a great soundtrack by Eddie Vedder. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet read the book but I was really touched by the film. In fact, I was in Denali Park at the same time Chris McCandless was living in the abandoned bus on the other side of Denali, late summer 1992. I was on the Kahiltna Glacier, about 30 miles away. Its strange to think about being so near that bus, just before he starved – 15 years ago.
I was out supporting my friends who ran the Dallas marathon and came across this fun band at mile 22 on Swiss Ave.
